Every now and then my 97's fuel pump will stop working properly. It will cut in and out. I though it was the fuel pump going bad, and I got a code on the DIC that told me it was the Fuel Module. Every time this happened it was raining or had just stop raining. I always thought it was just a quisidence. Well a couple nights ago I took it through a brushless car wash and on my way home the fuel pump started cutting in and out again. Has anyone had this problem? What should I do to fix it??
If you raise the car and remove the rear inner fenders, you will see two aluminum access doors on the back of the tanks. These come off without removing the the aluminum cover UNDER the tank.
Once off, you have access to the fuel and electrical connectors to the pump and sending units. I would inspect them all for corosion or damage. The pump is inside of the driver side tank, but I imagine water is simply getting into the wiring.
Maybe you can try sealing the cover in some way with plastic, to prevent excess water getting to the plugs.
