Default Check Engine Light

Can anyone tell me how to turn the Check Engine light off. I an getting a code ( P0441-EVAP System No Flow During Purge) that has been checked twice and no problem was found. Nonetheless, it has cost nearly $200 to diagnose (no prob found) and have the Check Engine light turned off.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

It simple! Turn your ignition to the ON position. PRESS reset to clear any thing that is being displayed on the DIC (i,e, door open) Press the options button in and hold it and at the same time quickly press the fuel button 4 times. This will put you in the diagnostics mode, Look at the DIC display and you will see it display how many error codes are set in each module. It will automaically go through each module and desplay set codes. If you hit the trip or options buttons it will put you in the manual mode and you can manually go to each module and examine the stored codes by advancing through each module. The fuel and guage buttons will advance you up or down through the stored codes in each module if ther are more than one. To clear the code press and hold the reset button.

I would write each code down prior to clearing it. That way if you see it a lot you can track that problem down to a module and maybe a componet. Most codes are flukes and can be cleared and you will not see them again.
my spqrk plug wires gave me a bunch of weird codes.

To exit the test you can wait 3-4 min and it will clear OR turn the key off and then back on.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info, Bill! Are you saying that if a code activates the "Check Engine" light, and that code is deleted, it will turn the "Check Engine" light off?

Many thanks for your help with this. It's been driving me nuts. :banghead:

That is correct.

The Check Engine light will come on anytime an emissions-related code is thrown. Reset that code, light goes out.

:iagree: That is CORRECT! If it is a spurious code, you can clear it and be done with it. If it keeps coming back or will not clear then it needs to looked at. There are LOTs of people here that can trouble shoot problems down to the bad electron!!! :yesnod:
They are always more than willing to help!
Post your codes and explain the sysptoms and 90% of the time you get the correct answer and save TONS of cash!!!!!!!!!!!!
