I know this has been brought up many times already but I'm trying to get the latest scoop. Here's the deal: Had a 2000 6 speed that went to 55,000 miles without dripping anyting. My 2003 6 speed coupe just started the rear end leak at 5,500 miles. Specifically, it looks like its coming from the driver's side differential cover. Also when it had about 2000 miles it started making a scrubbing noise that sounded like the rear tires were rubbing in the wheel wells. It would only happen during turns. That went away after about 50 miles and hasn't returned. I checked and it wasn't the tires. Any ideas?
Don't loose the faith yet!
I'd taken mine in 3 times before the dealer finally made the "fix" (so far).
At around 3000 miles, I could smell differential oil in the garage. Found a small drip at driver side diff case. Dealer (warranty) service tried plug sealing, then the case resealing, then on the last trip (yea, a pain, but what are ya gonna do???) they finally got it handled with some new sealant (so the story goes) that GM was now recommending.
Common problem that GM used to fix with a new diff, but it was getting out of hand, I guess.
At any rate, I just turned 10,000 miles & no problems.
Good Luck !
