AUTOMATIC Z06
The best option would be to have a ZO6 built with an A4. Over the years, GM has built special order cars or COPO (Corporate Office Production Order) cars as they have come to be known. It’s not easily done and would probably require the cooperation and persistence of a Corvette dealer (one who gets a steady, high volume allocation of Corvettes) who won’t take no for answer. Even with a Corvette dealer who will work hard for you, it may not be enough. Besides the usual excuse of GM doesn’t build them this way, they may balk at putting an A4 behind a LS6 because of the inability of the A4 to handle the power of the LS6. If they did agree, your ZO6 would probably come with a healthy dose of torque management programmed in. One thing for sure, this factory one-of-a-kind car would probably be worth a fortune in the years to come.
You could, of course, buy a ZO6 and convert it to an A4. This has been by quite a few people but it’s not cheap to do so. If you go this route, I would bypass the stock A4 and go with a built A4 such as FLP offers.
The last option is probably the most expensive. You could get a convertible and buy a removable hardtop, pump up the output of the LS1 and beef up the A4. The only advantage I can see with this option is that it can be done in stages and you could budget the financial outlay required over time
