Its a possibility the front something-or-another in the torque tube has gone to the pot. Anyone else had to replace a torque tube yet? Any idea on prices for these things? Im out of warranty and not real happy about this poopie.
yes, I broke the rubber coupling two weeks ago and you can not purchase those separately. I bought a used torque tube from Gene at Karshop. Call him, he may have another.
Ive got no answer but I remember you from reliable chevrolet. I was the salesman who sold you your car. Remember I took your red Cobra for appraisal and I said everything would be cool and my manager gave you a stink about putting your Mr. Evil plates on the Vette then they wanted to put that crappy gas in the new Mr. Evil? Anyway hope its all good! Vince
I busted a torque tube in my race car. What is it doin, making a hell of a racket? I have a used one with a billet aluminum coupler installed for sale and two new ones, one that has been fitted with a billet coupler and one that is stock. The billet coupler is a fine upgrade for street or strip racing applications. It is a pretty big job to replace. Let me know if you are interested.
I sheared off the bolts on my torque tube in June. Luckly it was covered under my extended warranty.
The full assembly is about $2k. The rear bearing assembly about $500 and the main component about $1150. All prices from the dealer, I don't think there are aftermarket parts yet.
If you have to do the work, It's a bunch, then you might as well replace the clutch, M/C, & slave with the 02" upgrades while it's apart.
Hey dude! Yea. I remember you. I actually sold that car back to the dealership 10 or 11 months later, had a 'burb z71 for almost a year, and finally bought a '00 FRC hardtop to pimp out at half the price I paid for the Z06.
I went back like a week later and you were gone. Said they got rid of you or something. I got no clue what the story was, just figured you moved on.
Scott - Its too late for me to call tonite, but I will call you tomorrow concerning the torque tubes you have with the billet coupler.
btw - yes, its making all kinds of crazy noise, right AFTER getting a new clutch, slave cylinder, master cylinder, and the tranny rebuilt. I was driving it home, the shop owner was riding shotgun as he needed a ride home, and bam. Sh)(t hit the fan. Took it back, tore it down, and troubleshooted it down to the torque tube. Guess one too many times at the track launching with spray and drag radials.
