I was asking for OWNED and run outside the northeast. I have yet to see or hear of a cartek pkg turn the #s tossed around on the forum with a pkg. not installed at Cartek's shop even in an f-body with a short belt.

that must say that some can't do the proper install that cartek can. personally me, myself, i could care less, but it seems like u are trying to imply something else and open up a can of worms. my first post here was go with a tuner closest to where he lives for good reasons well known to everyone. i dont keep statistics on carteks set-ups in other areas but if u are really curious then give them a call if u really wanna find out. all i can write about is about what i personally know so let's keep this thread cool

i dont know who installed mti 427 roadster's old same cartek set-up i have but he ran the same exact times i did 11.5's but i guess that's too slow for everyone now  :yesnod:

Rob,

I am not looking to start a flame war the forum has already had that. You gave the answer I was looking and have given some of the best advice in the topic

For someone with 13 posts looking for H&C best advice that can be given is read, research, search for old posts, and maybe some of the other LS1 forums should be looked at. I would also decide who you want to tune the car and see what they have had results using.

Tuners are using different philosphies or methods in building cars. LG has a very big cam with good street manors making great #s. Cartek seems to build the power in the heads with a smaller cam most posted cams seem to be ~224/228 also making great #s. Correct me if I'm wrong. I am no expert on either shop.

I would like to hear more on other tuners ARE has already posted and Norris posted on another topic a while back they are working on a new cam package.

I will be in the market for internal mods hopefully early next year. I'm saving up $ and watching to see what happens. New intakes and an intercooled Magna Charger will make for an interesting winter. I have collected a bare very low miles block and LS6 heads waiting for me to decide on a combination.

Thanks,
Lamar

do what i'm doing. when the c6 comes out i'm sure tuners will lower their price on mod packages. new technology will be out and hell, maybe some of the c6 parts can be modded and used by us c5 guys. i am not too big on big cams either as it can impact reliablility later on. when i do update it will definitely be with the strongest and most reliable set-up whether it be cartek, vette drs., mti, etc. but one thing that i have experienced is that cartek already gave me one reliable mid 11 sec reliable set-up

KH24
thanks for the feedback, I was hoping to get someone to chime in with first hand experience with the Cartek X package.

Nice times, what kind of 60' times do you run? Also, do you have a dyno sheet you can post or send me? I know that's NOT the only thing to consider but it is interesting data.

Oh, also..which cartek package do you have? It sounds like they have had different versions of their X. Do you have the specs? Was fly cutting of the pistons required?

Thanks!
I had a 1.54 60ft on that run and let me point out you also need the power and gears to get a 60ft like that. A stock C5 will not get a 1.54 because it will bog off the line with tires like et streets. I asked dave for his most aggresive heads and cam package ....its the stage 2xrev2 ls6 package. I could have done a solid roller but for the few extra hp its not worth it to me. I have a dyno sheet but im on vacation right now so it will be a few days before i can get it to you. Also i was just informed that my run of 11.21 was in a DA of 3400-3600ft. This saturday is another race and hopefully the air will be a little cooler. This winter, watch closely for impressive times from all sorts of cartek cars.

Enjoy your vacation! I'd love to see the dyno when you get back, i would also really like to see head flow #s and the actual cam grind specs. Were your pistons fly cut?

Thx!

My car dynoed 451 HP and 401 TQ at the Vette Doctors when it had a few hundered miles. When I went to Carisle this past weekend I dynoed it when 90 degrees if it has any bearing I don't know but it did 449 & 396 so I would say it's making it. Car runs constantly at the track events and screams 6900 rpm. Where you are located I would go with LGM as he does raod race and drag cars and knows durability. Comparing numbers at the track is misleading also. Depends on weight, rim, tire, driver, tranny and other things. Real confusing also hp is not the end all don't forget TQ. What more of an offer could you get than what LGM gave you
 :chevy :seeya

Yes the pistons had to be flycut. As for head flow specs I have no idea but i have heard the number 315cfm tossed around before. I never really asked as i just respected their privacy. All I cared about was that it makes the power. Dave told me the cam specs once but i forgot them. Its a big cam but i am sure that LGMs GX-2 cam is bigger. As for the weight of my car, I have a steel rollbar, so this is not a weight saving car. The car weighed 3230lbs with me in it and a 1/4 tank of gas. Thats around 3060 without me in it. I think about 40lbs was saved by having the CCW rim setup. The tranny is stock and anybody who has seen me race my car stock or lightly modded can testify that I am a horrible driver. Hows shifting it back into 2nd from 3rd sound  . Im sure somebody like brent or c5pig would get another tenth or 2 out of it on the same day.
