I had the same problem. Two wheel bearings and a CV joint later . Then they tightened the torque tube. That seemed to be the problem. Its been 2 months without a noise. Was driving me nuts before they got it right.
Hi Dave, had the car up on a hoist and tried running the car in forward and reverse and NO noise from anywhere. Put it back on the ground and the noise returns. Totally stumped!!
Ray
When the car is on a hoist the engine is not moving the 3200 lbs. Basically there is no load trying to stop the engine from accelerating. Not sure if you said you loaded it on the ground but maybe thats why it wont ping up there.

Re: Torque Tube Problem? (DieL)
I have not tried loading the front end only yet. I notice you also have Toronto in your profile, can you recommend a shop to take my car to and get a second opinion besides the dealers? I'm in the East end and I can't find anyone I would trust with this problem.
Well there are a few big name tuners aroudn here that are familiar with the c5s, but $$ is more the issue. ARE is here, and carravaggio is nearby as well. I honestly cant say whether or not they want to be doing normal repairs on cars though. they are more of a tuner shoppe/customizing. The shoppe i deal with has been modifying my car for a while so they do repair my car.
The only thing i may reccomend is my friend works for Royal Pontiac GM in mississauga. The expert mechanic there is a friend who also has a c5 and knows it inside out. If you want i can pass along some info maybe you could speak to him. Besides him their diagnostic guy is the best ive seen and usually solves my problems within minutes.
