Had them installed at a local tyre/exhaust shop for £40 ($65).
Took about 90-minutes (with me assisting) to get the stock exhaust out in 1-piece and the Stingers on and aligned with the car on a 4-post lift.
Trickiest part was removing the passenger-side stock over-axle pipe/muffler assy. Not a lot of room up there between the diff carrier, tranny pan and chassis rail! Getting sufficient clearance to swing the muffler down far enough to make the H-pipe end of the over-axle pipe horizontal in order to remove was the key. Driver's side was much easier.
Stingers went on with no real problems. Had to spread one of the muffler pipes slightly to get it to slide onto its over-axle pipe but, other than that, no problems. Tips were easy to align and I left a finger-width gap between the under-side of the rear bumper and each tailpipe.
One thing to mention is that the driver-side over-axle pipe to H-pipe joint on the stock system was blowing at the flange. That explains why my stock exhaust sounded quite 'fruity' and popped under deceleration (not unpleasant!).
The Stingers sound pretty awesome... lovely popping on the over-run and evil under acceleration. Drove briefly with the windows up (even though it's pretty chilly out!) just to see how the noise level is inside... driving with as lighter foot as possible is the key to minimising interior noise. So, driving with cruise on on the freeway should be relatively quiet. We'll see.
I'll post pics and before/after soundclips a little later today.
One question for you guys... I had disappointing dyno results recently. How much could the blowing over-axle pipe / H-pipe joint have affected my dyno numbers by (if at all)?
If the leak was closer to one of your O2's then it would have really affected your dynos. However, since it was at your catback, it should have been a negligable affect.
Let us know how the interior cruising sound is and congrats! :)
that must be the only corvette in england, or one of the few
Yea, C5's aren't exactly an everyday sight on English roads... although, surprisingly, I only saw a couple whilst in Manhatten for 2-weeks in August. Thought I'd see more.
Nice driving a car which you almost never see coming the other way.
Then again, it's nice to wave when you do! (as long as they wave back!)

Is there any problems with the legality of aftermarket louder than stock exhausts in England?
Just wondering.
The volume of the exhaust does not form part of the annual MOT test. However, it does form part of the SVA (Single Vehicle Approval) test that all imported or new vehicles must pass before they can be UK registered.
Once a car has passed SVA (only once for UK cars, which are then allocated an EU conformity certificate), there is nothing to stop anyone from installing an aftermarket exhaust. However, if you were driving aroung with open headers (extreme example to illustrate the point), you could expect to be pulled over by the Police and told to get the exhaust 'fixed'.
Ian, Congrats on the Borla Stingers! I installed the Stinger Quads on my '04 C5 a couple of weeks ago and love them!
I can't wipe the smile off my face every morning when I start the car in my garage. Shifting through the gears while accelerating sounds like an Indy race car and at WOT - watch out!
I installed Borla exhausts on my previous sports cars ('86 Corvette Coupe, '93 Probe GT <semi-sportcar  > and '96 Nissan 300ZX TT) and was always impressed with them (quality, price, sound and appearance).
