Was it difficult to polish the outside? How did it come out? I hand polished the entire upper intake on my Mustang and that was a beeeeoooottch. Took about 30 hours.

Looks like chrome :D
I had done this by hand, buffer, ect. Same with the altenator, bracket and some other stuff..including the entire rear suspension. I have a knack for this :D I like it. However, this time, I took it apart..and wasn't happy with the results, so went to a pal's that has a wheel polishing shop..looks great!!
The prep is the hard part..the right tools/ equip. make the difference..but it makes the final buff that much easier. The suspension parts in the rear, same deal..if you have alot of access to a lift..then really easy to get to and do..
mine is lowered also, wife thinks I'm nuts..but when your behind, it's visble.
Had it at Extreme Motorsports getting new rubber mounted..was standing outside, and then I heard alot of.."dayammms and check this out"! :D
Gotta love that. That's what it is all about. It makes you feel good when someone shows appreciation for your car. This post has made me decide that I am going to all least try and do a lot of cosmetics myself, at least at first unless I really screw something up then I'll have to buy the really cool replacement. I think it would make me feel even better if I had the appreciation and I did the work myself.
What did you use to get into crevices and hard to get spots (ie, corners)?
Die-grinder air tool..on a small shaft, rubberized bullets and also pointed sanding rolls..all in different grits..used also with tripoli rouge! Corners come out good/great..but generally not "perfect"! :D
