Can anyone help me with installing the the Vararam Velocity Stack?? The instructions say to install the clip from the velocity stack to the throttle body, the clip doesn't seem to fit on anything!! The velocity stack is not enough of a pressure fit into the throttle body by itself. Any help would be appreciated and any comments on the added performance as well.
Thanks.
1. Make sure the stack is in the TB properly. It is slighlt lopsided. If you look at it sideways the back opening should be lower than the front. It goes into the TB that way.
2. After it is in take the rounded end of the clip and with the rear part sticking up work the little slit in the round end onto the stack at the very top center. You may want to slightly spread the opening, or use a pliers to pull it back. BE CAREFUL! If this thing gets loose and goes flying you could lose it!.
3. Once it is on make sure you have the hose clamp loosely around the coupler. Then you have to kind of hold the clip and stack with one hand and work the coupler back over the trottle body. When the coupler is on it will be up against the verticle back end of the clip.
As far as power gains, maybe 1 or 2 horsepower. What I did notice is my car idles a little smoother, I have slightly smoother throttle response and slightly less burble when decelerating. I'm probably going to take it out and port my own TB and then get a wire brush and polish and make it REALLY shiney! If there is any HP/TQ gains It may be measurable on a dyno, provided you do it with it out, then put it in and do a dyno run right after. I don't know. I bought mine cause I figured at $29.95 if it didn't do anything then at least it wouldn't hurt THAT much.
Thanks for the tips ArKay99!! I just came inside from the garage and ended up installing it without the clip. I think my coupler and clamp will seat the velocity stack just fine wiyhout the clip. I will see if there is any performance improvement tomorrow!! Thanks again!
I guess you got similar results to what I experienced? I was told 6-8 horsepower! You will feel it in the seat of your pants! I wonder how thin the pants have to be? Seriously though, think of it this way, if your vette is a 2000 C5 your base hp rating is 345. If you got even 5hp from this gadget that would only be approximately a 1.45% increase in peak hp and that figure won't necessarily apply to the whole power band. I don't think you would feel much. What you may notice, is slightly better throttle response, maybe a slightly better idle, etc. That's what I did. Like I said, I might take it out and port my own throttle body. That way I could make it look like something, even if I can't make it feel like something. :D BTW, you have a nice ride

Hey guys, I know, lets all put tiny 1" diameter throttle bodies on our cars...just think of the air velocity you'll have then! It'll be FLYING into the intake through that tiny hole...of course, volume might be compromised, but just think of the velocity!

You actually dyno'ed it? I hope it was an afterthought ;) Thanks for the info. Now I can take mine out and not lay awake at night wondering if I got 2hp more. :smash: I wonder what would happen If I put 2 and put them on the exhaust tips? SW LT's coming next week. :steering:
It has to be worth something!! The stock throttle body has a large notch at about 11 oclock that most certainly changes the air flow. If all it does is smooth out the air flow by 5%, it's gotta help!
Well, Nick Yoskin dyno'ed it and posted his results above. Like I said, I don't know by the seat of my pants. It's kind of like, 'my car feels smoother now that I've Ziano'ed it,' Or, does the light REALLY go out when you close the refirigerator door. Maybe it doesn't give power, but like you said, it smooths out the airflow and a smother airflow will give you a smoother running engine. :steering:
Just ordered mine last nite. :smash: If it idels better OK. But for 50$ cant expect too much. Will keep you all posted.
$50 will buy you one hell of a steak. $50 will buy you a nice video game. $50 will buy you 2 lap dances and a drink. $50 will buy you 2 tanks of gas. $50 will feed a child in africa for a year. All of these things will give you more enjoyment than a velocity stack that does nothing. Just because it is $50 does not mean it should be a totally useless mod.

Seeing alot of so called worthless mods on a lot of rides. TB bypass, GMS MAFS, plugs, wires, oils, lubes, and the list goes on and on. Hell, half the stuff you listed is pretty worth less (lap dances, steaks, drinks, some kid in Africa, if you really think your money gets there in the first place). If the money we spend on our vettes makes us happy who are we to judge one another. Just my .02. :grouphug:
I would like to see your Dyno Print outs. If what you are saying is true, then Vararam may need to talk thier lawyers. They advertise, in Corvette Quarterly, power increases of 6 to 13 REAR WHEEL HORSEPOWER!!
Post your dyno results!

I believe their garauntee is that you will gain power or your money back. If you have 0 gains and the dyno sheets to prove it, take them up on the offer.
