go tthe magazine today for the changer, went to play.......first got ERR message. makes a lot of noise but doesnt play, doesnt e-ject the magazine. anybody have suggestions. thing is only 4 years old?
spoke to soon. at least i hear it wokring, and the magazine pops out now. got a cd to work, but now it doesnt ERR message again. going to clean cds as well as cd changer and see what happens.
In my experience , the changer has to have time to cycle thru all 12 discs (loads and reads each disc then looks at the next till all 12 have been read)before turning on the ignition. I have three of these changers in the household and they all respond with an "ERR" message when not given time to cycle all discs first. :steering:
Don't feel stupid, I've owned my car now for 2 years and never used the 12 disc changer because of the error message. I just walked out to the parking lot, loaded up 12 CDs, waitted for it to cycle through as IndyBlue98 says, and IT WORKS FINE
I do feel stupid.....
Don't feel stupid -- these Cd changers have not been designed to act consistent with other players.
I, too, was tripped up by having to install the CD's upside down and not waiting for it to cycle through all the discs before turning on the ignition.
Another little hint -- if the CD changer is bumped too hard while it is playing (as when cargo in the back bumps into the CD changer) it will go into ERR mode. You need to turn the ignition off, remove the cartridge, re-insert the cartridge, and let it read all the cd's again.
does this protect the machine any better? couldnt gm figure out a way a little easier? im so used to the single cd anyway. so i have to wait to cycle, then turn on the ignition. anyone ever figure how long that is?
heres another scenario, what if i leave cartridge in the cd changer after driving and start the car later, will it pick up at the last spot the song was playing like other conventional cd players?
