WHAT TIRE COMBO WOULD BE BEST FOR DRAGIN' 18" OR 17" REAR?
I HAVE SEEN 18" ON Z06 WITH NITTOS' 305/45/18 AND THEY LOOKED REALLY TALL! (MAKE FOR REALLY TALL GEAR) I WAS THINKING ABOUT LOOKING FOR A USED SET OF 17 FRONT AND SPOONING ON A SET OF 315/35/17 OR 275/40/17. PLEASE GIVE YOUR FEED BACK.
Hi Nick, The 18inch Nitto you are referring too in primarily used for the ford lightning trucks!!! They are extremely tall and WILL rub ( Experience with this ) Trust me..However, Bfgoodwrench has a 315/30/18 drag radial that will look damn near stock height ( I got'em ) .... To me they hook pretty good!!!! As far as a the height, I think they measure out too about 25.sum to 26 inches ! There is only one problem that I noticed with them , THEY SUCK in the RAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yesnod:
Hi Nick. Welcome to the forum. We have a drag racing forum on here were you can visit as well.
Best traction is dependent on many things, like track, temp, your mods, your burnout. The 18" BFG is probably a better tire if you are going 18" but I am not sure how readily available they are.
Most C5 racers are using the BFG 17" either 275 on front stock wheels or 315 on ZR-1 style 11" wheel. Either of these are fine setups for draggin'
Higher horsepower cars are running the 16" MT ET Street bias ply tire. Some on 16" stock C4 wheel or full drag package complete with front 5" skinnies from CCW.
Still even higher horsepower cars use Hoosiers.
The 16" wheel will require some modification to your upper a-arm.
If you are close enough to Englishtown, NJ, check out the East Coast Supercharging Corvette Challenge series on November 15th. You will see many varieties of setups in one place. More info on http://www.corvettechallenge.info/whatisit.php
ccw package with et streets on 16" X 11" with 5" front 16"
:iagree: I dropped from 1.60's-1.70's to a best so far of 1.55 with the CCW drag setup..and that was only my first try with the CCW setup fine tuning the air pressure and launch rpm...I should get better with experience..Definately the way to go..
i installed the nittos and had some serious rubbing problems, because of the height of the tire...i now have the bf goodridge and love them, except when the road is wet,or travelling at a high rate of speed on the highway.
60' times are directly related to the power you have.............
I use the 17" 275/40/17s to increase my gear from a 3.15 to a 3.30 for better ets, speed suffers a little but I don't mind :D
My mods are minimal so these work fine for me
