Is there any color to this "Blackberry" model? I can't tell from the pics here or on your website for sure. It looks like regular graphite colored carbon fiber to me. Is that what it is?
I was thinking, did you guys try running a Blackwing filter on this? Hard to be sure from the pics but this filter looks to be smaller and the slanted surface of the Blackwing would put just a little bit more "contact" area of the filter exposed to the air coming in from the tunnel port... 1 more HP?

Thanks.

By the way, your EB colored setup is sooooo

Our surface area is 25% larger than the Blackwing. Flowbench results show 7% greater flow.

That really does not make much difference in the real world since the volumetric efficiency increase is the first part of the power equation, with the second being cold ram air.

The Blackwing sucks hot air. At 95-degrees IAT, the Blackwing will lose 1 degree of timing. At 135-degrees a full 12 degrees is pulled on the LS1 which equals 10 RWHP.

Our TRAP breathes ambient air from the front facia through the Warhead filter, thus preserving full timing.

In the real world, the Blackwing will be at least 10 RWHP behind the TRAP at all times.

Check out this dyno done by our distributor 21st Century Muscle Car:

This was done with our TRAP, a cooler thermostat, and LS1 Edit Programming. 27 RWHP.

Jim,

I've seen some Blackwing installs and can see why they draw in hot air. When you say that the Trap breathes ambient air from the facia, does this mean that the air comes in from an opening that you must create? I guess I'm not sure what the facia is. Do you have any pics of the unit already installed?

I guess that if you didn't want to remove your front cover, having screens in place of the fog light plates is still better than having a Blackwing with no screens?

This is where the Warhead filter is placed. This cutout is only done with our Stage II Tunnel Port modification.

On the LS1, the front bumper (facia) is not a vacuum box, thus all of the air within that area is ambient. Obviously, the Z06 screens or our Tunnel Port make our TRAP much more funtional.

The Stage 2 Tunnel Port creates a Ram Air effect, but is not True Ram Air.

Exactly. The Blackwing must breath hot air due to its placement. We have recorded a delta of over 40 to 50 degrees difference at the Intake Air Temp sensor between underhood breathers and our TRAP. In fact, at idle, our IAT was within 9 degrees of ambient, and the moment the car began movement the IAT dropped instantly to witin 3 degrees of ambient. By one block the temps were in parity.

How exactly does the TRAP differ from your old TRIC? They look pretty similar at first glance.

That is, other than the difference in carbon fiber and price.

I'm curious as to what performance improvements have been made since I can pick up a TRIC for $150 that looks no different to the naked eye. :yesnod:

Jim I called the number you left me in one of your other posts and left you a voice mail. I already have a vortex and am wondering what the sale price (if there is one) is on just the upper power duct part in black carbon fiber w/ the Z logo. Thanks.

Jim, where is your pricing on the website for the Pomergranate TRAP? I found the airbridge and FRC's, but I want the TRAP & FRC's....

I'll be placing my order through Nate at the Corvette Garage this week.

Jim this looks like just the airbridge & FRC's...or does it also include the lower portion of the TRAP with the warhead filter? I'm looking for the whole thing.
