Default LS6 Manifold question.

Please check out my sig. I am looking for advice/opinions. I'm looking to upgrade my performance at this time. It was suggested to me that I purchase and install an LS6 manifold and that would give me an increase in performance. I am thinking maybe +7rwhp and +5 rwtq increase. I can do my own install so it wouldn't be that hard. But I wonder if those are the numbers I should expect. Any experience with this?

Dont do that intake manifold without doing heads and cam or just cam. You wont see hardly any gains out of the manifold otherwise.

It depends on how much power you're looking for. I've seen 8-15 on a stock LS1 and 15-25 on a car with headers and all. Like I said, it depends on what you're looking for. I have a GP for 410.95 shipped with coolant pipes and plugs if you're interested.

Thank you-
Gene

I have a 99 FRC and the second mod I did on the car was an LS6 intake (the car came with a vortex rammer and coupler). The first mod I made was a Z06 Ti cat-back. I felt a very slight bit of difference after this mod. If I were thinking of doing this mod now, I would wait for the LSX manifold, especially because you have the ported throttle body.

The pre-01 LS1 manifold only shows losses at the 400 fwhp mark. This is when it becomes like a bottle neck & might possibly hinder performance ( In your case I would suggest the same since you have already upgraded your exhaust & some parts of your intake ). Average gains are 7-10 rwhp & tq. ( On bone staock engines modded are higher- Not bad for around $ 400 ). The LSX intake looks good due to the larger TB size but it has yet to be released & the price is about $ 300 more for the 78 mm model ( so it will only give you benefits if you go to a larger TB BBK 80 mm for example ) The larger one is more expensive still .So it depends on you really will you be one of the first test drivers of this new intake ( another reason for possibly choosing the same is the laughing gas since it has integrated NOS ports ) & like i mentioned your goals. Will you put your vette on the "squeeze" & are you ready to fork he extra dough. Personally i went for the LS6 stock intake.

Take Care . :seeya

This was the last mod I did a couple of months ago. I already had the 80mm BBK TB, MAF & K&Ns, etc. There was a definate SOTP increase at midrange & above. I feel any SOTP mod is worth it. You will need to Edit. :smash:

I believe I had a realistic SOTP increase...but could be the ole placebo.....Overall glad that I did the mod...although I did not have to do LS1 edit....

After all my intake mods, AutoTap indicated fuel trims at +20%. So be sure to AutoTap (or some other program) & see where you stand. Even before the manifold change I was at +15%. :yesnod:

I did mine in conjunction with an LS1 Edit session so it was hard to tell if it was manifold only but there was a definite increase.
