I'm about to install my H/C package (well, when the heads show up.. waiting two months now..) and was wondering what type of lifters I should get. I've installed the Comp R's in a buddies car and they seem to work well. However, a few people have told me recently that they are not really needed for my application. Are there any con's to installing these even if they aren't really needed?
Which would be a better lifter, the 850 or 875's? I'll be using the TSP cam and crane duals on my setup. Some have even said to use the stockers, however after 70k miles, I think I'll change em out jus to be safe.
Also, what about aftermarket rockers? I've been hearing all sorts of good/bad on the YT's, and I don't really want to reuse the stockers for reliability issues. Does anyone make a rocker like stock, but won't spit needle bearings?
Re: Question about lifter type to order.. (99blackFRC)
I'll be doing the same thing this winter and I will be using the new Comp "R"
Lifters .
I have the very same question as you wish they made their Pro Magnum Rockers in the stock 1.7 ratio.
I think we all need adjustablity with out any additional Lift.
Good luck
John
Re: Question about lifter type to order.. (blktie8)
Thanks.. Anyone else? I know the 875's (R's) are working fine in RDF's car, I'm just trying to figure out if there are any negatives with going with this lifter. They are about the same price as the 850's..
And has anyone had any experience with either of the Comp rocker products?
Re: Question about lifter type to order.. (99blackFRC)
We use the 875's quite a bit on these cars. If your stock ones have 70K, it would be a good idea to change them. The perfect combination would be the 875's and the shaft mount rockers. Second best is the Pro Magnum roller rockers and 875's. Just try and set them up with very little preload. You will get a few more high RPM HP. :yesnod:
Good luck.
PS they are on sale right now with us. Check my sig for a link to the post.
Thanks,
