Re: C5 diff and fuel filter maint. schedule (Chopper Larry)
GM dosen't specify an interval for the fuel filter, and the diff can go to 100K. Many folks change both around the 25-35K mark. I did my diff early, but have been holding off on the filter, because it means removing the exhaust pipe on that side and I want it to be a little warmer before I spend too much time on the cement! :) :yesnod: :)
Re: C5 diff and fuel filter maint. schedule (Chopper Larry)
I usually change the rear end oil in my vehicles every 25k-35k miles. And when you do, use something good like Red Line. It has the friction modifier in it so you don't to add the little bottle of stuff from the dealer, plus Red Line makes what many feel are the best oil's and lube's on the planet. Hey, it only takes 2 quarts, and you'll keep it in there for at least a year, so why not spend a few bucks more for the best. Ok, Amsoil is good too.
I just changed the fuel filter on my '01 at 55k miles. The old one was so plugged I could barely blow thru it. It was aparently causing the engine to go lean at WOT and high RPM (when the fuel flow demand is highest), because my spark knock problem that I have had for a couple of years has just now disapeared. So, changing it every 25k-35k miles is probably more in line, and if you have a mysterious spark knock problem, swap that bugger out.
Re: C5 diff and fuel filter maint. schedule (Chopper Larry)
I changed mine at 10k and went with Redline synthetic in the tranny and the the differential. The fuel filter is a good queston, I've never changed it.
