Does anyone know if they have come out with the 18 inch Nitto 555R drag radial yet? If so, what sizes and what will work on a stock rear 18 inch rim? I have heard different stories on this. Thanks guys
If you take them to the track " don't forget to heat them up til they have a nice smokey burnout. Keep us posted on how well they 60ft!
i will! i have been waiting to finish my little project, installed 231 237 cam patriot stageII ls6 then tranny went! just pulled tranny and took to builder.i bought the tires now so that theyll be waiting to installed. should make BIG diff. as emts just blew through traction control!!!l :lolg: :lolg:
285/35/18- in my opinion it doesn't have enough side wall to make a good DR
305/35/18 nearly identical in hieght to the stock size tires, but would be much better mounted on a 10.5"(ZO6size) or 11.0" rim, although it will fit on a 9.5" :yesnod:

Click here for the spec sheet on the Nitto DR's. It shows a 308/35/18 with a great speed rating. Couldn't find the tire at retailers when I looked a few months ago. Perhaps it's time to call them again! http://66.54.67.57/tires_555r.asp

Oh, I almost forgot, my Vette is dropped 1 inch so will I still be ok? The car will be on the street as well and I am concerned about rubbing when I am banging around corners...will I still have no clearance issues?

That 305/35(26.404" tall) is almost exactly the same hieght as the stock 275/40(26.66" tall)you won't have any clearance issues

With the 305/35/18, will I have to alter anything in the wheel well?
Nope, your good to go :steering:
Not true, that tire is too and wide without a mini-tube it will rub some.

Again, i have a friend who's running a 315/35/17 on a 9.5" ZO6 rim with no rubbing. He's been using it on his car for about two years now with no problems.
But like i said earlier i would recommend a 10.5" rim
SIZE:better mounted on a 10.5"(ZO6size) or 11.0" rim, although it will fit on a 9.5" :yesnod:
That tire is alittle to wide for a 9.5' wheel.
I have a 305/45 mounted on a 9.5" rim, works fine :yesnod:
Since you squeesed that tire on a 9.5' wheel, you have made it so the tire doesn't ride on it's full contact patch. Basically the tire is now say a 295 or less. It doesn't make sence to me why people who are trying to max out performance would do this. Did you notice how the sidewall sticks out past the edge of the wheel? I tried this combo too and the tire to me looked as if it wanted to burst off the wheel. Since you went with the 305/45, you must of burned a hole in the well. I know, I tried it.
Tires are the most important thing on the car and people here on the forum are always stuffing big tires on small wheels and then telling people who don't know any better that it works.
