I had it installed on monday, and its wednesday and I notice a little rattle which seems to becoming from the exhaust, so I took it back and we looked at it and he told me it could be 2 things, resonance, transmission, what do you guys and gals think...by the way it an 03 coupe with 1500 miles on it....thanks :skep:
On my Z06 the resonance isn't bad at all. When I had the stock titanium exhaust I had the jingle that people hear. But it is gone with the borla, perhaps with the louder exhaust you are getting a rattle from somewhere else.
I don't have an A4, but I think it's safe to say that the rattle is not normal. See if you can isolate where it is coming from by rapping on different areas.
Don't notice much resonance unless i lock in 2nd or 3rd gear in my a4. I also had a rattle took it back to the Midas that installed and they fixed it. GAME OVER!

There is a difference between resonance and a rattle. If it is resonance you are hearing (and many who have Borlas do), not much you can do about it. If its a rattle and you didnt have it before the Borlas then it probably is an install problem.
I have an MN6, but I think on A4s there is a heat shield that is removed during install. Both auto and manual cars also require the rear sway bar be lowered...so if it's a rattle, could be one of those things...FWIW...
(Twenty-first Century Muscle Cars also tack-welded my clamps so they would not come loose)
I think it's safe to say that the rattle is not normal. See if you can isolate where it is coming from by rapping on different areas. One of the pipes may be hitting the tranny; take a look, or have the installer do it. I DO NOT have any unusual resonance with mine. :)
:iagree: Mine was making contact on bumps and starting from a dead stop, was able to duplicate it by moving the tips through their max range of motion. A little adjustment and its gone :smash: Good luck
Mine is an A4. There are a few possibilities--and rattling is definitely different than resonance. The rear fascia supports holding the muffler in place may be loose. You could tell this by moving them yourself (they shouldn't--maybe a tiny amount of flex). The other fastener spots are where it bolts to the stock exhaust and the clamp where you join the over axle pipe with the muffler itself. Sway bar bolts are a possibility as well as they are loosened and the bar dropped. Can you get underneath the car on a lift and move the exhaust, it should be snug all over with very little play. The pipes do straddle the tranny pan, but not very close unless something were seriously bent.
Mine had slight resonance around 2k rpms and now that I have the LT headers it's increased. This is completely normal for loud pipes. Now that my car has LT headers it's so loud that it makes my plasitc trim rattle!
