I just installed a set of the 1 3/4 Kook's and it really was no big deal.
On the left side you have to remove the oil filter and the pressure sending unit (just unbolt the adaptor) and the coolent sensor, plugs and coils, remove the alternator and raise the left side of the motor, slip in the header and reassemble everything.
On the right hand side you will need to remove the starter, plugs and coils.
Raise right side of the motor and slip in the header leave it loose and lower the motor and install the starter.
Stock manifolds come out from the top and headers go in from the top.
I did mine on jack stands in my garage, I took my time but I could do it in about 4-5 hours.
It would help if you have a second person to help, but is entirely possible to do by yourself.
Anyone with patience and a fair selection of tools should be able to do this at home. :D
I got to tip my hat to you guy for I did my FLPs on a lift and it was a challenge to manuever to get them in. Actually, they fit quite well, it was experimenting to find the right position to get them in; here is where I think the added clearance a lift provides is a plus. Anybody doing it on jack stands in their garaqe gets my respect and

I put mine in a couple of weeks ago same as above ,fairly easy install,Im glad I did it,best bolt on youll feel short of heads&cam, this is one of those jobs that sound hard but is not.
I just finished my KOOK LT install tonite. It wasn't bad at all, 4 1/2 hours in the garage and jack stands. LS1howto.com was very helpful and very accurate.
They sound great, I was smiling from ear to ear. I think I still am. I can't wait to get it on the ground and feel the power.
All but finished mine tonight Just have to replace the sending unit I broke (aahhh)
Some say you can put the KOOKs on without pulling the starter, but I could not. Just remember to leave the header loose like Corvettebob mentioned. Also make sure you get the starter wires off of the headers.
I am running simms for the back because I have no cats, but the front should be find as long as you tie the sending unit wires out of the way of the headers. The mount in a slightly different place.
This install can be a challange, but just take your time. I did not do mine as quickly as some of the others did, but they should be worth the time I spent.
Good luck.
