My fuel gauge just quit on me. The gauge reads below the red on empty and the Check Gages light is on on the dash. I had a little over a quarter tank and then all of a sudden it sunk to empty and the warning light came on. I filled it up with gas thinking that would correct the problem, but no luck. Any suggestions?
My '99 Coupe had the fuel gauge TSB fix last fall and the gauge failed again a couple weeks ago. This time I put a bottle of Valvoline fuel system cleaner ($4 at AutoZone) in about a half tank of gas. The problem fixed itself a couple of days later. You might want to try it before you go to the (UGH) dealer. Good luck!
Mine did this from time to time until I switched to Chevron gas. The problem (as I am told) is gasoline with a high sulfur content (Quick-Trip, Shell and others) makes the sender go crazy. Run a few tanks of Chevron through and I bet it clears up.
This has happened to Corey and myself. I got mine fixed last week at Landmark. They replace the whole sending unit. Let me know if you have any questions.
Motorokie - I'm going to try the fuel system cleaner before taking it to the dealer. I'm still under warranty so if I have to, I can take it in later. Thanks.
Switch to the Chevron for a few tanks, you might be able to get by without buying the Techron addiditive (though I recommend running some every 20K miles or fo as a preventtive measure). I am betting it will go away with a change of fuel.

Z06Les - All I run is Shell gas. Coincidence...?? Hmmm...might have to try the Chevron down the street.
