Hey ya'll with straight pipes!
What's it like? I have Kooks w/ cats and Stingers. It's very loud, but now that I have a beater truck I'm thinking louder would be even more fun. Is the resonance horrible? Does the car sound good or just loud? I figure if I don't like them I can just sell them on here.

i have tpis long tubes & a random x pipe with no cats & borla 2 tip stingers & they are screaming @ wot , they sound great i have had several compliments on the exhayst since i have made the change no emissions test in alabama lets u get away with running no cats i would say go for it !

I should have been more specific. I'm dont' mean removing my cats, but changing from the Stingerst to the Borla straight-pipes! :cool:

Disconnect the mufflers from the mid pipe and run like that for a while. I used spacers and longer bolts to get a bout a 3/4" space between the two flanges. Try that and see how that sounds. I ran the car like that for about 6 months, It was fun for a while. Real loud and YES the resonance was real bad. Around 1400-2000 RPM it will get on your nerves. I have a 6 speed and could shift around it. It got OLD after a while!

i have TTS long tube headers, no cats, Bassani x-pipe, and then the over-axle part of the Borla XR-1 (that means no mufflers at all) ... and a blower.
it is simply LOUD AS HELL. people have told me that they can hear me coming from well over 3 miles away.
the other day, one of my wife's co-workers said that i passed her on the highway - WOT in 3rd gear at about 100 mph - and it scared her so bad that she almost wrecked. :lolg:

The louder the better :yesnod: I have the FLP longtubes, no cats, x-pipe, and XR-1 overaxle tubes. It is awesome and I wouldn't change it for anything. No one expects a vette to sound like this. I have gotten so many compliments...but then again everyone wants to race, too. :cool:

:yesnod: Yeah baby! That's what I'm talkin' about! I was running through the 64 tunnel around here and WOT third gear in a tunnel just plain scares people. My co-pilot thought it was hillarious to see how scared people got when we blew by them.

I think I'm going to try to get my hands on a set of borla over-axel pipes (back half of the XR-1 system) :hurray:
