Default headers on, so was check engine light. E.C.S. is the best!!!

i just got my car back after haveing E.C.S. install a 6 point cage and the lg pro long tube headers with cats as well as new plugs and wires. after i hit 50 miles my check engine light has come on. no ls1 edit was done. should i be worried or just see if it goes away. also had tb ported and polished..

It's probably an oxygen sensor, happened to me too. There is a way to check the codes & a webpage with all the code meanings on it but I can't remember how or where. Someone will have that for you. Most likely you can just reset it.

Yea, when I did my long tubes on my old Trans Am, got the light after about 100 miles. Turned out it was running way rich and fouled the o2 sensors. Had it tuned, replaced the sensors, and no more problems.

Did you install Simms for the senors up front? I hope that's not a dumb question but it is what LG recommended to me as an alternative to the Ls1 edit.

Even with high flow cats, sometimes it will trigger the SES light. Get some sims or edit

The PCM code is more of a PITA than anything else. The o2's dont get warm enough due to how far back they sit on the headers. If you keep getting this code, you can always turn off the o2 codes with LS1 EDIT. You wont need to have it tuned to do this. Just have ECS download your current tune and turn off the annoying o2 codes.

i put the same set up[headers]on my car 3 weeks ago.put over 100 miles on the car,no check engine lights at all.i don't believe it's a install issue[ecs seems to have a creditable rep.],your rear o2's[now the fronts]could just be lazy or you could have a bad or poorly connected simm.you shouldn't need edit[for faults],but edit wouldn't hurt as the fuel trims go rich after the headers, but not rich enough to trigger the cel.just my .02

You can not use 02 sims in the front. the front 02s report the AFR to the PCM and are always needed. Simms are for the rear 02s which are only to report the condition of the Cats.
The common thing to do is use the rear 02s in the front position(with wiring adapters) because they run hotter than the front 02s. This is what I did.

thanks for all the response, you all are great. i am not worried at all about the install E.C.S. did they are great people to work with and do really nice work. if you are in the area and need work done this is the place to go. im hopeing to check wich code in a few hours. i want to wait until my gears and clutch go in before edit. but that will be a few months.

I had the same codes with my LGM long tube headers and finally got rid of them today!!! Turned out the instructions that LG Motorsports sent with their headers are not correct for a 2004 C5/Z06 - and may affect other years as well. I actually learned about the fix from Andy at A&A Corvettes.

Install the original front 02 sensors in the front and use 02 sims in the rear. The instructions from LG said to use the rear 02 sensors up front - which caused these codes. It costs me $200 to figure this out after going through several troubleshooting procedures. Good luck!

Interesting, I though the idea was to move the rears to the front because of the difference between the rear and the front heaters. Is this only for the 04's?

Mine is 2000, this worked great for me :yesnod: I used LS1 Edit to turn off rear 02s...no simms here

My fix - using the front 02 sensors in the front vs. the rear 02s is specific to the 2004 model year because GM decided to use C6 parts (02) for the last year of the C5 for some reason. Apparently, it made the difference using this configuration, which Andy used on a 2004/LGM header install as well. They're awesome headers once you're able to clear the code issues.
