Default Oil pressure - drop

Sinced having new rings put in - I've noticed a smell of coolant - but have not seen any leaking. I've also noticed a drop in oil pressure to what the car normally showed before the new rings. My last trip to Oklahoma - when I got there and ran into traffic while idling it dropped to 20lbs. Is that within acceptable limits - I never saw it drop that low before. Also when cruising in 6th at around 2k rpm it only shows around 30lbs. It does go up if revved but not nearly as much as before the work was done it.

Do I have potential problems? I looked at the oil filler cap - it seems to have a brownish deposit on it - never noticed that before too! Do I have coolant leaking into the oil?

Your oil pressure is within normal limits. GM states the minimum is 6psi per 1000 rpms.

how long has it been since the re-ring?the brown spooge on the filler cap could be a sign of coolant and water mixing.check the coolant jug to see if it has coolant/oil mix[should look like chocolate milk if it is mixing].don't understand why the starter is loose though?snowing in texas???????

Engine is running stronger than ever (with all the compression rings on now!) The drop in oil pressure may partly be due to tha fact that before I ran 5 -50 weight oil - when they put the engine back together they used the normal 5-30 Mobile. Oil looks clean after about 700 miles since I got it back! That never happened before - it would always turn dark fairly quickly.

So I guess everything is a-ok :steering:
At least that's what I'm telling myself!
