On the way home from a short errand, the check engine light came on at a traffic light yesterday after normal driving of about 3 miles. Drove the vette another 2 miles home. Doesn't seem to accelerate as well before the check engine light . Restarted it this morning and light is still on. No codes displayed on DIC. My vette is 2003 coupe, was purchased new and has 10,200 miles on it. Any ideas? Will be calling dealer but wanted some input as to what it could be.
2/27/04 Update:
Thanks for the links to display car codes on DIC. Went thru that process and see the following 2 codes:
P0757 H C
C0630 H C
I do not see either code listed in the links provided. Anyone know what they are/mean?
Also, spoke with service advisor at Chevy dealership. He thought that it could be due to gas cap not closed properly. If that is the case, the vette needs to go thru 15 or so start, drive, stop cycles for the check engine light to go off (assuming after the gas cap is closed properly.) I asked him how I can retrieve codes on the DIC and he said there is no way possible for me to do this and I would need to bring in the car for them to run the diagnostics. He also asked me if I had On-star, and if so, they could do diagnostics remotely. I informed him on-star is not offered on vettes (at least not until the C6 comes out.) He also told me that as long as the check engine light is on steady and is not blinking and car is not missing and seems to be running smoothly, there should be no problems driving it. If the light starts to blink, to pull over and have the car towed to the dealership. Earliest appointment they have available is 3/4/04. Well guys/gals. Is his information correct? Does anyone know what the above 2 codes mean. Can I drive the car safely until dealer looks at it?
The DIC won't display codes unless you ask it to, follow these 2 links 2 get the code(s) then write them down, erase them, run the car and see if the light and codes repeat, if they do then post the codes here and someone may be able to help you out.
When mine did that, it turned out to be the leaking battery. Acid had dripped underneath and eaten thru some vacumn lines. Luckily the computer wasn't damaged. Everything looked fine from the top.

Thanks for the fast replies as usual and links to the code retrieval information. Got it all printed out and will check my codes when I get home this evening and post results.

This is all a bunch of :bs the P0757 is a faault of the 2-3 solenoid in the transmission, worded directly from the servicemanual:
"When the PCM detects a 1-2 2-1 shift pattern, then diagnostic P0757 sets."
and fault code C0630 has something to do with your ride control, they are both being shown as current faults, Have you had any work done recently?
Try to follow the link that I provided about erasing codes and then see if the code(s) come back.
Oh wait, I just got a look at your mods  How do you like the 3.73's with that converter, is it a strong as it sounds
and I hate to say it but with the P0757 code you might be losing the 2-3 band in your tranny, this is the first thing to go  If you have access to a fax machine I'll copy the service manual for both codes and send them to you if you want

Had the gears/TC installed in Dec. It's a great combo, feels like I've strapped on 100HP. The clip to one of my rear shocks was damaged by the installer when they took it off to do the rear/TC work. They have owned up to it and I'm waiting on them to fix it properly. Have been getting the "Service Ride Control" message since that incident so that explains the C0630 code. Regarding the info you provided regarding the P0757 code. That's bad news regarding the 2-3 band in the tranny  Tranny shifts strong. Am I SOL with GM covering this due to gear/TC mod. Would this generate the Check Engine light as well? Will appreciate the copy of service manual.
