3.42 gear on A4
Or will the computer speed sensors automagically pick up the change?
I currently have 3.15's installed in a 99 vette

You will have to get reprogramed, Predator, LS1 Edit or have a Tunner at one of the speed shops do it. I used Predator for 3.73s and a custom tune form James and loved it.

That's why I went with the 3.42's. Out here the limit is 75 on the interstate. And naturally, I want to do 5 to 10 mph over that. When I cruise to vegas or diego I diden't want it to wind up too much. At 80mph my tach reads 2400rpm, anything more might be too much for long hauls.

I chose to go with a 3.42 rear end for several reasons. You will not have to have your speedometer calibrated. You will be better off to adjust shift points and it is possible that you will see the P1870 code. (some cars see it some do not) If you get P1870 then you need to have some adjustments made with LS1Edit.

there are many web sites with info about rear axle ratio changes on a C5; here's mine:

There are many reasons to "say" that - but since you're so smart and experienced ... I guess there's no need to tell you.
But for the others; in an A4, you don't have a manual clutch to control wheel spin. So using run-flats with 3.73 or more radical gears in an A4 will probably get you to lose every race. Sure, you can squeal your tires and impress the kiddies, but at the track you'll turn poor times and look silly.
Why do you think the Z06 uses non-run flats?
