How much to put motor in?
I am pulling my old motor tommorow and my dad offered to pay to have someone put new one in. Any ideas what the cost would be if its alot I will just do it. (don't want dad saying you owe me let me borrow the car!) Any ideas though if i take car and new motor how much it would cost to get it put in and all hooked up?

GM dealer charges 70-75 bucks an hour!!!! :eek:
Local Mechanic will be about 40-50 bucks an hour!
It should take about 12-15 hours to install if nothing goes wrong! My guess!

According to AllData it calls for 22.1hrs to swap a long block, 25.1 to swap a short block. Some tuner shops that specialize in LS1/C5's may charge a discounted rate but your local garage or dealer will charge flat rate per these All Data figures above. So, 25 x 70/hr = $1750 for the labor short block swap.
