i have the same problem in my '99.......... cycling the hazard switch didn't help me any, guess i'll be forkin out the money for a turn signal switch........ may try the hazard first just because it's so cheap
I have a 99 also with same problem. Replaced haz switch yesterday and works like a charm now. The blinker is actually in the haz switch. The dealer tried to tell me I needed to replace the entire turn signal switch in the steering column for mega bucks. What a crock.
OK, after going three weeks without a single failure, I experienced 4 events today. Each time, I flicked the hazzard switch on and off and the problem went away.
Dumb question #1: many states consider turn signals as a safety device. If there are so many vettes having this problem (as demonstrated by the small sample size in this forum), then why hasn't there been a recall?
Dumb question #2: how difficult is it to replace the hazzard switch? I'm concerned that a whole bunch of stuff needs to get removed to access the switch and, in the process of solving one problem, a whole new set of other problems are created.
Should take about 2 hrs to replace. Need to remove the dash & front panels to get to the switch. Switch $45 + time. I had mine in the shop for something else and had them replace it then. Again, they charged for 2 hrs of time. This did solve the problem. Good luck.
