how much rear wheel horse power would i gain if i upgraded from a ls1 to ls6 intake manifold. basically stock c5
From what I've seen on the Forum, the gain, if any, would be unmeasurable on a basically stock engine with light mods (intake/exhaust). Remember that GM claimed only a 5hp increase on the 2001+ LS1 with that manifold, and that was with a different intake train and cam.

I say, do the upgrade, but only after headers, high flow exhaust, and high flow intake. You wil pick up 7-10rwhp, and even more torque. but only about 5 if all else is left stock.

It won't do much for a stand alone modifaction, but consider it a building block for future mod's.
Anything you can do to free up the intake and exhaust system will be a help. :D :seeya
I have asked the same question. the answer I get from several respectful tuners is MAYBE 5 hp at most. I have done enough mods and dyno tuned my car that the LS6 intake, lifters and cam would not do much. How ever if I was racing every little bit counts.
Mods done:
larger air intake
90 mm ported & polished TB
TPIS Long tude cermic coated headers
Random Tech High flow cats & X-pipe
GHL bullet Exhuast
computer reprogram for 6650 red line
better torque and HP though out the whole curve.
Transmission cooler
oil cooler and accu-sump
We tuned the car for a bit more torque then HP as the torque will help get out of corners faster vs HP is TOP END speed.
