Hey Guys, I am new here and need some assistance. I have a 97 with only minor mods done on it, nothing computer or fuel system related has been changed, and it died on me yesterday. It is getting no fuel whatsoever to the engine. I think that the problem is the fuel pump, as I can no longer hear it buzzing next to my ear, but I wanted to check with you guys to see if it could be anything else. What are my options? I have heard maybe installing an in-line pump would solve it, I have also heard that won't do the trick. I also am not sure what fuel tank/fuel pump configuration is in my car. I hear there are several different variations between 97 and 04. If someone can tell me what setup is in my car and what I have to go about doing to take care of this problem I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks :banghead:
No I haven't changed the fuel filter yet. I guess that could be a possibility, but I think that it is most likely the fuel pump as I can't hear it pumping anymore. I am really interested in finding out what fuel tank/pump setup is in my car and what I need to do to change the pump.
Great, that is just what I needed to know. Some people were telling me that I had to drop the whole fuel tank (entailing the removal of the torque tube and all that other stuff that goes along with it). It is good to hear that I won't have to take too much stuff apart to get at it. Thanks
replace the fuel filter first. If you have not ever replaced it and you have a lot of miles on the car, it will be clogged, I will bet. It may have taken out the fuel pump, too. I have found the filter becoming restricted after only 10k miles.
