ASP Underdrive Problem I had
I encountered this while doing my cam swap. I had the whole engine buttoned up and put on the ASP underdrive. It went on just as it should, with my double roller I had to shim my oil pump and then have the pulley machined so it would not interfere with the shimmed pump. Long story short everything went on as it should - Pully torqued down to about 230 pounds. 240 wasn't going to happen. It is lined up perfectly for the accesory belts
Well, the last part of the puzzle was putting the belt that runs the A/C compressor. I recieved my underdrive and belts from MTI. When installing the belt for the compressor I found that it was too long. I was able to get it routed correctly but it was loose enough to not put any pressure on the tensioner. It stayed put when I turned the engine over by hand but there is no way it will stay on when firing the engine.
I talked with MTI and they said they have only seen this one time and it was on a truck engine - and in that instance it need a slightly shorter belt.
I will list the part # for anyone who may encounter this in the future.
Belt that was sent by MTI is Gates Part # K040410. I talked with my local Gates distributor and it was recommend that I use Gates Part # K040400 which is 2 sizes smaller than my current belt. There is a Part # k040405 but since my tensioner did not have any tension on it, it the Parts Store guy recommend that I go down to the K040400.
In short
Original Belt for ASP = Gates # K040410
In my situation of it being too long I am using Gates # K040400
This is a bit long winded but it may save some peope some time in the future.
Good luck!
Actually it is the sixth pic down: http://mysite.verizon.net/imagelib/s..._new&title=New AC belt on (supplied with ASP UD pulley kit)
One of these days I will figure out how to post a pic on here! But not today...

When I first realized it was to large I had that oh crap feeling come over me - thought maybe the pulley was on wrong. But it turns over fine, everything lines up and all.
Since MTI said they saw it once on a truck engine I am wondering if maybe I got a compressor or idler on my car from that set up in error!!

Patches posted a pic of what needs to be done.
And to be more specific, I got to 220lbs of torque on the crank bolt, and got every bit of 135 degrees after that.

I used the rollmaster double and asp pulley, with the spacers for the oil pump, and did not have to machine the pulley. Everything lined up and cleared great, maybe just lucky?
