OK I've had it with the noise under my hood. I've search many posts and changed both belts to Gators. I have a few questions. What is the correct part number for the pulleys? And can I use the solid tensioner sold by one of the vendors or is this a waste? Thanks for any help.
What's the noise sound like? I know my dad's had a slight squeal to it and it turned out to be a loose connector going to the throttle body that was letting air by.
Not sure if it is the same thing as a problem I had once.
My 1999 FRC had a squeal from the belt. I took it into the dealer. They told me the belt was fine, but dirt, grease etc often gets stuck in the pulley groves that contact the belt and makes a squeal. They cleaned the pulley wheel and the noise went away. I had the car for another year before selling it and the noise never came back.
BTW, I don't remember what they charged me, but it was pretty minimal.
its the idler pullies very common there was even a TSG about it on 197 and early 98's i think. dont know the part numbers TTT or give fitchner a call sure he can get them for you they are cheap I believe maybe 20 each.
