I belong to the ZR-1 Net and we had this problem long before the C5 was ever on the drawing boards. The solution is to use the correct fluid many of the C4 owners have tried and failed using Dot. 3 . In the service manual it tells you to use the 12345347 Hydraulic Clutch Fluid. Any of us C4/ZR-1 owners that have continually used this clutch fluid have never had a problem. ;)

The solution to what? With the "correct fluid", the CLUTCH PEDAL GOES DOWN AND STAYS DOWN for some people under certain circumstances. Thus, we know without doubt that the "correct fluid" is not the solution. What am I missing?
vettenuts could explain how to do a gravity bleed thats anew one to me.
TIA Jerry
Does anyone here gravity bleed their system? I found it to work quite well, but it obviously takes more time. It is a one man operation and I usually do other things while the bleeding is taking place.
Pretty simple really, especially if alone. Put your rubber line on the bleeder and into a can or other catch device. Open the master cylinder resevoir cap and make sure you are full. Open the bleeder and let the brake fluid slowly bleed out into the can. It takes a while, but I usually do something else like Zaino while I'm doing it. Just make sure to keep the master cylinder full.
I know others have said to get part number "SB1010" but I was told "SB1010S for the '99-'03" C5 by the sales rep. The SB1010S is a shorter bleeder.
Do '99-'03 have different brakes or different bleeders?
SB1010 = M10 X 1.0, Length 1.35", (34.44 mm)
SB1010S = M10 X 1.0, Length 1.23", (31.35 mm)
I ordered the SB1010S at the sales person rec, but will compare bleeders vs. the stockers to see. Don't wanna be paranoid, but don't wish to send back a wrong part either...
