Finally Got Tired.....
Looking for mid 12s. Can it be done with TC and 3.42s ? Best time so far 13.14 with 2.73s, Predator performance tune, Corsa cat back, Blackwing, and runflats
My goals are:
1. Drivability. Dont want too loose a converter. Would still like to be able to take my foot off the brake on idle and have the car inch forward. I would like to be able to take long trips, 500+ miles or more, in the car if I should so desire, without being numb from engine noise.
2. Would like to still run my runflats but not averse to Goodyear Supercars. Not too interested in drag radials or ET streets, but wouldn't rule them out for the track.
3. I drag race about half dozen times a year for a total of about 15 runs. A few test and tunes and private events. But that could easily increase.
From what I have seen, my options are:
1. Stay with the stock converter.
2. Go to a slightly higher stall than stock, say the Pro Torque 2800.
3. Go all out with the SY 3500, sacrifice some drivability, and plan on buying tires.
Which option do you all suggest and why??
The LS1 would do even better with this kind of set up. I would definitely get a 2800-3000 stall converter (Vigilante is a VERY nice unit), 3.42 gears would be perfect, and get the A4 built up a bit with a shift kit or better. An A4 can be made to really handle the horsepower. You sound like you are on the right track.
The gearing is the primary factor for your long trips, you will be tacking around 2400-ish with 3.42s, I believe. The TC will be fully locked up by then because you will be in overdrive at this point.

for that info(2.0?) made a world of difference and no drivability problems.Btw it knocked off 3/10s and that is with the Michelin runflats for tires. Also went from a 2.xx to 1.79 60 ft times. :yesnod: :yesnod:
