c5 6spd w/ B&M shifter installed 2 wks ago.
Before the shifter install there was a "hitch" from 1st to 2nd, like a notch feel half way into 2nd gear. With hard shifts I can usually get it into 2nd, but accationally I will miss 2nd because of this (luckily hasn't happened yet stop light racing). This makes me pause before releasing the clutch making sure I'm in gear. With the B&M the notch effect is still there, and actually makes shifting a little harder because of the throw (I didn't adjust the B&M, just bolted it in / Is there any type of adjustments?) Most of the time the shift is a little tough, but not bad. Sometimes very tough to get into 2nd the first attempt, then easy with a little pause. And sometimes easy or normal. Any suggestions.
1998 C5 Convertible 75,000 miles (purchased with 72,000 miles)
Time for new syncros... I have exactly the same condition, AGAIN. I replaced them once about two years ago and now it's time again. I'm told it's from too much grabbing 2nd gear. I was thinking of trying the B&M to help with this problem but now that I've heard that it didn't help, I won't waste the money. ;)
this is the same problem I have with my 3-4 shift. Sometimes 4th just feels LOCKED out...other times its like butter - smooth. Only 9k miles on the car and a hard 3-4 shift is only done at the track (which is to say rarely). Seems hard to believe the synchros would be shot already.
