Default C5 Memory Seat

My 99 Nassau blue continues to have memory seat issues. It has been to the dealer 6 times and listed with the Factory as an issue. It is still under extended warranty.

The problem statement:

The seat will go to the memory position correctly but will not move to the rear for the easy exit.

Easy exit is on in the menu.

I will have to take it back in for trip #7 if I can't find the solution. This is an issue due to my knees hitting the door frame on exit. thanks in advance.. vettdvr :nonod: :nonod:

I had similar issue a few years ago.

My recollection is that the dealer cure is reflashing the computer.

However, I also recall that the consensus here, and what I did, which cured the issue, was to re-program everything.

In other words: reprogram all my key fobs, reprogram easy exit on the DIC and reprogram (or reset) the memory buttons on the door panel.

Some "housekeeping" could be to insure your key fob batteries are new, the two wiring connections on the seat adjustment panel are tight, nothing is broken under the seat (four bolts and the two connectors remove said seat), the electrical connections behind the door panel are also tight.

A little grease on the seat tracks and "worms" would not hurt either.

I'd do above before another visit. Else, some component is likely in need of replacement and the dealer is having a difficult time finding which one.

Good hunting.

Default C5 Memory Seat (Kenny94945)

I pulled the seat yesterday to see how the local dealer had done the previous work. Black tape was a mess,, wires had cuts in the insulation and the connectors were not connected to the seat frame as per design.

I cleaned all connectors, retaped all wire harness, and installed the connectors at factory locations. I also removed and cleaned the position sensor (basically a voltage divider 5.0 V pot) and reinstalled the seat. Still the seat would not retract. While in the seat I moved the wires under the seat with the door open and key out and the seat moved rear to the exit position. Pretty clear it is a wire, but I don't know which wire is in this circuit. I did reprogram the key fobs with new bat's in the fobs and all is well there. Currently the seat retracts,, at least until the unknown wire looses connection again. Does anyone have any reco. on which wire in the harness could cause this? I did not go into the door panel because moving the under seat wire made it work properly. This looks like a loose connection somewhere. Thanks in advance.. vettdvr :flag :flag

Kind of Ironic but I had the same problem with my Nass Blue C5..The dealer replaced my Memory Module for the seats and VOILA ! No more problems.

Tell the dealer service manager that you have concerns with the seat wiring because of your current findings and see if they will replace it.
