We cannot get the sensors in the wheels to calibrate using the instructions that were sent to me by West Coast Corvettes (Awesome guys!). We make it all they way through the process but it won't recalibrate (horn doesn't honk).
I think the issue might be that they are 2001 Z06 wheels, with 2001 style sensors on 1998 C5. Is there a known issue with them communicating?

Yes, it is well known that you can't mix the sensor styles...you need to keep the same style that came on your car regardless of what wheel you're using. You can use a sensor from a 97-2000 on your car.

Thanks. I think he will just have to live with the sensors not working since the 1997-2000 sensors physically don't fit the 2001 wheel (can't get a good seal).

Just strap them / expoxy them to the center of the wheel, and use regular valve stems. Many CF members have done the same for custom wheels. If they are factory Z06 wheels, I know for a fact this set up works fine, since that's what I have on my car.

Same here. Remember where the sensors are since they will no longer be behind the valve stem. Also, when you do this, the standard GM magnet isn't strong enough for training. I'd suggest that you go to Radio Shack, buy their larges woofer speaker, tear it apart for the magnet and use it for training. (Another WCC tip for me that works great!!!)

I put mine 180 degrees from the valve stem hole , so I know where they are if I need to re-train them. Also, it's a good idea to take a few jpegs of them mounted on the wheel before installing the tire so you know exactly where they are. Use a 5 minute epoxy and prepare everything in advance (cleaning and sanding mounting area on both the wheel and the sensor) so you can whip through the process.

Wow... I have a 98.... with 98 sensors... and they are on the 2001 wheels, and fit fine, and seal... so does a friend of mine with a 98 and the new wheels... so... I am not sure what the problem is, other than you have the wrong sensors... I had a set of the 2001 sensors also, and they did not work, as they are different... but... the right ones seal, and work.... really
Re: Elaborating of Tire Sensor Problem. (2004C5Mitch)
I installed 2002 sensors on my ZO6 chrome wheels. The little rubber seals looked very easy to damage and seemed like they would be prone to leaks. I applied a very light coat of permatex "BLUE" to the seal and I do not think it will ever have a problem.
Is your seal in good shape? If the sensor does not hit/rest on the rim when the stem cap is torqued in to place, the rubber seal should work and not leak.
If the sensor hit the wheel when the nut is tightened the stem could be cocked and the thing will never seal.

The early style sensors WILL fit Z wheels...but the trick is you need the rubber seals from late model sensors. The early style sensors just used an O-ring to seal. The later style have a thick rubber washer that has a step in it. The smaller (stepped) part of the seal fits in the hole of the wheel...so later model wheels have a slghtly larger stem hole drilled to accomodate this. The actual stem diameter is the same for both tyle sensors I believe.
You could try your local dealer to see if you can buy just the sensor seals (for a 01-04 car)...but I do not know if they are avaiable alone (they normally come on new sensors, and they are reusable unlike O-rings, so it might not be available as a seperate part).
