I'm ready to buy a Varam air intake and they ask what air filter we want.
Torquemaster, HP or HP+,
what is the difference?
I am looking for performance at mid speed and not at low.
60 to 120mph.
Thanks
Pascal
I went with the K&N filter. THe Varam filters are a little better as far as performance but the K&N overall is a better filter. Also, Varam had some problem filters in the past, that allow, particles into the engine, I understand this has been corrected. The K&N is fine, and you'll really notice the difference between 60-100, the numbers just disappear into triple digits, be careful. If your looking for mid range improvement and a over all better filter I'd go with the K&N, performance only I'd go with a Varam Filter, also you don't have to glue the gastic onto the varam filter. Comes alreay assembled. I will probally try the varam filter out next time... My vara ram system came with the K&N from West Coast, they stated based on their tests they liked the K&N a little better.
I have the V-Ram filter. They have corrected the problem with sealing/filtering with this new filter.
I checked my throttle body and there was ZERO dust/dirt in it. The filter is used in desert racing conditions. So I believe it filters VERY WELL. Just keep it well oiled.
on the new Vararam Filter being improved. Have checked several times since installing it and am pleased with how things look. Defiately worth a try.

Very ugly! I've had mine for 6-8 months, cleaned it twice over 12000 miles and it stays real clean on the engine side. Still looks like new....well almost new. Guess it's one of the new ones. I'd still be interested in the K&N, just for better protection if it doesn't significantly affect performance.
That filter looks completely destroyed. That happened under normal usage?
I hope the V-Ram tech chimes in......
I have 3000 miles on my V-Ram filter and it looks BRAND NEW and my MAF screen looks new. I am located in dusty Arizona......
I believe the filter fell apart (why, I am not sure) and once it was destroyed it let in all the debris that is visible in the MAF screen. I do NOT believe the filter let in the debris when the filter was in good shape.
How can you be sure it is working unless you do an oil analysis, and I have yet to see someone post one running the Vararam. That is exactly why I never bought one, although I think the concept is great.
The filter pictured is the unit we no longer produce and we have completely redesigned the construction process months ago.

My first foam filter tore in the middle. I called Patrick and he made me a new filter and overnighted it to me (Great Service). The second one tore also and I found some dirt in the TB. I went with the k&n and no problems with tearing or dirt in the TB anymore.
