Ok, here's the deal.
Ignorant owner needs help.
I've been unable to get what I want for my '99 Automatic coupe so I've decided to have a little more fun with it.
First- I've heard that 385 HP is as far as you should take a '99 automatic...is that true?
Second - What mods give you the most bang for the buck? I'll probably change the mufflers for a more aggressive sound.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe
For the most part, a cat-back install is for sound (unless you really pump up the power at the engine, ala supercharger - then a lower restriction catback is a must). As for bang-for-buck power increase, a new intake system will give your engine a healthy bump at minimum cost. I've found that the new Halltech Stinger-R intake is the best deal out there at $199.00. It includes a massive air filter assembly, larger than stock airbridge, and smooth throttlebody coupler. You cab buy one through A&A Corvette. Of course, there are many other intakes available that will produce a nice power increase, but at higher cost and after more installation time.
Another popular choice among forum members is a gear swap. You won't see any dyno power increase, but seat-of-pants feel will be noticable.
How fast do you want to go and how much are you willing to spend? After you add an air intake (Blackwing, VaraRam, whatever) and a catback mods start getting *very* expensive. My preference is a blower or turbos.
