Default HELP - A Simple Question

Hi All,

Could one of you who has a stock 12CD changer, tell me "In Good Detail" how exactly the wire harness for the changer is wired in the trunk area?

My Vette had a changer at one time, and I am trying to locate the wire harness to it. Where "EXACTLY" is it routed to the center rear storage area?

Maybe the harness was removed with the changer, and maybe it's tucked away somewhere.

One kind person here told me it is wired with the right rear tail light wires, but I don't see it in that area where the carpet is velcro'd together. Does the cd harness come from that area? Or does it come from a more forward part of the trunk, closer to the passenger seat?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ron

In my car (z06) it was routed along the passengers side of the car, you can start at passengers side footwell, runs along footwell area, behind the passenger side rear speaker, along side of trunk area (about half way up the wall in the harness for trunk latch, lights, etc.) to the cd changer well. Sorry if I couldn't be more exact, it was about 7 months ago when I had the car apart.

Ron

Your in luck!! I have digital pictures of the connections for the wiring harness where it connects up front on the passengers side. I do NOT know how to post pictures on this forum but will be happy to e-mail them to you!

From the two connections in passengers foot well down near the fuse box, the wiring harness runs along the outside edge of the floor pan, straight up the bulkhead behind the seat, along the outboard side of the hatch area and around to the large well area. Yes it runs in the same wiring harness hooks that the tail light wires are secured in. There should also be 4 holes in the rear bulkhead of the large well for fasteners where the bracket would have been. There should have been a small slit in the carpet where the wiring harness exited. There are only about 8 or 9 wires in the CD Changer harness so, it is not very large in diameter.
