A good synthetic oil precludes the need for additives as does the GM specification for oil requirements. For some good technical information, visit Bob is the Oil Guy.

OK, ok, hold the flame throwers. GM doesn't suggest using blowers and N02 either. I had huge success years ago with a product called Lubrilon
in my MX bikes. Using it cut down on top end rebuilds by 50%.
I just thought I'd ask the question

In all actuality it doesn't get any more slippery than Mobil 1.

I just thought I'd ask the question
Your MX bikes were probably 2 stroke I am guessing. Completely different deal.

Additives ?? We don't need no stinking oil additives.

You can't do any better than using a clean quality synthetic oil. They already contain all the additives you need..

Slick 50 and most of the others are just snake oil...

All you need is Mobil 1 and I change it every 3K because even though it is better than regular oil, is still gets dirty just like regular oil, so changing it every 3K is cheap insurance.

I agree. GM can't even take care of the column lock problem. My vette is an awesome car, and I love it. But I'm not real impressed with GM, or anything they've got to say. Any company that would make a car year after year, with the same stupid problem, like column lock, can't be trusted, in my opinion. I don't think an oil additive like slick 50 would harm an engine of any kind. I use slick 50 in everything, including my vette. And, my engines sound way better, including the ls1. If slick 50 can harm an ls1 engine than that engine isn't worth a crap anyway! Fire Away!

Oil analysis has proven that changing synthetic every 3k is just a waste of money, you can go 5-6k no problem and it will not lessen the life of your engine.

Changing every 3k simply does not give you any longer engine life, just a smaller wallet.

Not sure what the column lock has to do with the oil question?

In-any-case, I trust the judgement of the folks that built my car, more than an anonymous voice on the internet.

Could you expand on how your LS1 engine sounds better because you use Slick 50?
