Default Help with Air Conditioning

I just bought a used 99 C5 and the air conditioning does not seem to push any air when you turn it on at any level. Also it does not change from blowing underneith by your feet or in the dash. I can't seem to figure out what is going on. Please Help!

Blower Control Module...just had mine replaced. Exact same issue. Check in fuse box in passenger footwell to see if maxifuse 49 is good. If not, replace the fuse. If it is, the blower module might be the problem.

Do you have the problem when the A/C is off?? Does it have the same problem when you run the system without the AC on. Does all of your air blow out the defrost vent???????

It cost me roughly $400 to fix (part and labor). Car was in shop for 2 days. I took it in, told them what was wrong with it, even told them the part to replace, and they still did a full diagnostic check because there wasn't anything in the documentation to lead them directly to the part (so they said). Anyway, it's all good now.

When mine did that, it ended up being a cracked vacuum line under the battery. Pull the hush panel on the pass side and see if the purple line has vacuum.

What "hush panel" is this on the passenger side?

Im also having trouble (well, been having trouble) with my AC. I tried to fix it today to no avail. At first I thought it was the vaccuum line thats behind the intake manifold that gets pulled off when you move the intake manifold to do the oil pressure service.

I also tried to pull the #26 fuse in the pass. foot well, but that also didnt do anything. This is really frustrating me, does anybody have a definate solution to this? My blower is working fine, just I cant direct where it is going.

PS Im not paying any dealer to do the work cause it'll be in the hundreds of $ range, i'd rather sit and let the windows get foggy.

C5JOSH

When you have the "ALL AIR COMES OUT OF DEFROST ISSUE" it normally means that you have lost vacuum to the AC/heat cotrols. The vacuum signal come from behind the intake manifold (BOY IS IT A BITCH TO GET TO), goes under the battery tray (if you have ever had a battery acid leakage issue the vacuum line is the FIRST to go) and then into the passengers compartment to the air box controller.
Rscommend that you make sure that the vacuum line behind the manifold is properlt connected and then check the line all the way to the fire wall. The vacum line enters the passengers foot well area through the LARGE wiring harness fire wall pass through hole.

I would support those who suggested the vacuum line. While I haven't had this problem on my C5, I have had it on 3 other cars in my lifetime and each time it was the vacuum line.

How hard is it to get to the vacuum line on the manifold? Can you see it without removing anythng? Is it easy to spot? I have this same issue................... I just looked. How the hell do you know whish is the vacuum line on the manifold? Is it literally connected to the back of the manifold? And is this the tube that goes to round thing under the passenger foot area?

Where is the Blower Control Module located? Is it easy to get to? What does it look like?

My AC wasn't blowing so I took it in to have it fixed. Something about a drain line and it got plugged up so water backed up in it and shorted out the blower motor.

Buckmaster...
I am not sure what it looks like as the dealer performed the work. The part is under the dash on the passenger side. My problem was similar to yours where the fan was blowing full speed, rather than not working at all. Either way...looks like you have one of the two scenarios listed in this post. It's not hard to have fixed...just a PITA!
