Default Put the 3.90s in today....

Big thanks to mike mercury and all the other posts about the DIY rear diff swaps. I studied your site for a week before I did my install!
I put a 3.90 diff from DTE in my 99 (6-speed) It was sooo easy, really! I started at 1:00 and was driving it @ 7:00! It took me longer to remove and install the belly pan and my FLP X-pipe than it did to remove and install the rear subframe and diff. I did it by myself in the garage on two jackstands with air tools.
The hardest part about the swap is, and is going to be, babying it for the first 500 miles!!

That's a funny pic! That's me and my boy / garage / car in a few days! Where did you get those monster jack stands! Been looking for something like that. Do you think the "standard" 6 tons I have will do the trick? I believe the total height on them is 22~24 inches.. : cheers:

Those jack stands were borrowed from work and trust me there was no way I was getting them under the car!! The 6t craftsman I had did the trick well. Oh and notice how " clean" the "boy" is? Big help...........

Congrats on the install. Been thinking of going that route myself. Humm...how much would you charge...? By the way...this is Randy (Z06Boy) that almost shares the same last name...does that and 50 cents get me a cup of coffee or discount?

Seriously man that is cool that you did that by yourself...I'm interested in the after 500 mile test myself.

Good answer!! Fayetteville isn't that far... and the beer store isn't either. Hell I lived in Dunn when I joined the Marines many moons ago. (That doesn't cost extra does it? ) When I get off the fence and make a decision I'll touch base with you man. Thanks!

Nothing better than the satisfaction and feeling of accomplishment of doing the work yourself. Great experience and bonding for you and your boy. He looks real proud working on the Vette with Dad
Nice job, love to hear more about the results.
