Default Kooks Getting Installed

My first real performance mod. Getting a before and after dyno pull. I'll post the charts tomorrow evening. Purchased from and installation by MTI here in Houston. I bought the 1-3/4" kit including the x-pipe with hi-flow cats.

Congrats on the mod. You and PewterC5 are going to have to save up to buy new rear rubber. I'd be really interested in the before/after dyno results.

Hey guys could you let me know how your headers fit? I have heard that the kooks do not fit well. I had TPIS on my 02 and i am thinking about going back with them but i want to explore my options

I don't know where you heard that the Kooks don't fit well. Oh, I just saw you are from Texas...that explains it. In actuality, the Kooks fit extremely well and are an excellent choice for a stainless steel header. Not that there aren't other excellent options out there as well. But from a performance perspective, these are as good if not better than the "other" choices.

Happy with my Kooks both from a performance and sound point of view.
Contrary to what you might hear mine fit well and there are no clearance problems anywhere. While there are others available, the Kooks deserve strong consideration.

You will love the sound and power...Like PewterC5 I installed a set this past weekend, I'm going to the dyno on Wednesday. Hopefully we will both get great HP gains. Great mod...

If you don't mind me asking, how much are you paying to have MTI do the install? Dad is debating headers now and wants to go back to MTI since they did a really good job with his stingers and blackwing.

You may be confusing the installation process vs. the post-installation fit. The Kooks are a little more demanding during installation, but the fit (from what I understand) is good once installed.

I have Kooks on my 2000 and you could not ask for a better fit. I did not have a base line when I had mine dyno'd but as of now I running 339.19 rwhp and 347.43 rwtq. Just added some Taylor 409 race wires to and they look good.

I don't understand it. My install of the Kooks was very easy...2.5 hours total. BTW, thanks Chris and Marc (ECS) for making it so easy for me.

Ahh, read my post carefully....did I say I did the install? Trust me. I had my car in ECS's shop by 9:00 am. By 11:30 am (I was watching a big screen TV) I went back into the shop and Marc and Chris were "buttoning up" the install. With 2 guys, and a real lift, it can be done. Just not by me.

Big blue im not sure if im going to go w/ MTI they wanted 1395.00 for the headers x pipe and cats and 550.00 to install it. I dont think this is that bad of a deal but i think im still leaning towards the TPIS headers they have been around for a long time and i had them on my EB 02 w/ wonderful fit and no leaks

Tell them $1850 + tax. That is a fair price for the the Kooks w/ install.

At $1850, they would not be losing money. Trust me on that. Perhaps you should tell them you are considering "another option." I think there is a shop in Dallas that sell a particular brand of headers (their own.. ). Maybe you should call them and see if they can't help you out. Afterall, maybe MTI is just soooo busy building and installing those 427's that they really don't have time for the little guy.

Did any of you read my post. I was treated like a king at MTI. They did a great job and at a price I found to be very competitive. They stayed and did my install last night so it would be ready this morning for me. They drove me home yesterday afternoon after I dropped the car off.

Geneus -sounds like you have an agenda? You don't even live in Houston.

Last time I set foot in MTI was in 98. The customer service left a lot to be desired then. If it hasn't changed now, I don't think I'll ever order from them.

Then again I moved in Jan of 00'. I still wouldn't go there if I lived in H town. Rather make the drive up to 21st.
