I just bought a used set of FLP's. I have no gaskets for the connecting pieces. Should i have any gaskets to join the various sections, or do they fit just fine with the flanges tightened down?????? Also, the main header gaskets that came with it are broken, can the stock ones work, can i get a replacement at advance auto, or do i have to get gaskets sent from FLP? Also, should there be any bolts and stuff to bolt it up to the car, or will the stock bolts work? Thanks for the help as always.

The only gaskets you need are the header flange gaskets and the rear flange gaskets where the x-pipe connects to the catbacks. Use the stock gaskets. Get new ones from the dealer and you're good to go.
The rest of the intermediate connections don't need gaskets. The flanges butt up to each other and the v-clamps seal them pretty well. The band clamps seal the mid-pipes well also. You could use some high temp sealant or make some gaskets but they're not needed and the sealant defeats the purpose of the quick change feature on the v-clamp setup.
If you have the V type clamps like I do it alows you to switch out the cats and off road pipes without needing gaskets. You will need a gasket to hook up the x pipe to the mufflers. Stock gaskets for the main head side and muffer end should work just fine.
Yes those are the gaskets that you need. I used 2002 Camaro LS1 gaskets that I got from my local Chevy dealer. The work great and are much better than the crappy paper gaskets that FLP sends with the headers.
Last questions...I swear. Can i get the gaskets from a local Advance Autoparts, or do i have to go to the dealer?
VortechC5, i'll be coming out to CO on Tuesday/Wednesday. Any chance i could get a ride in your C5? I'm 99.9% sure i'm going to buy a centrifugal blower, and wanted to get a ride in one.
The block to header gaskets that come with the FLP's are a thicker fiberous material. These will help make up for warping of the header to block mating surface.
Call FLP, I did, this is what they recomend for their headers. This is the gasket I used on my FLP headers. My headers mounting flanges had .090 to .120 warp on one header. I called FLP and they assured me that this is normal. Mine are on there 11,000 miles and no problems, no noise, no leaks, nothing but good times.
The stock GM gasket is a thinner sheet metal sandwich. Very good if you are using stock solid cast iron headers with dead flat milled faces going up against dead flat milled head surfaces.
Get the thick asbestos/fiberous gaskets like FLP says to.
Like i said, i got the headers used, and they didnt come with any useable gaskets, so that is out of the question. I called FLP, and they didnt answer, and have not called me back :O
Can i get the thick gaskets from a local shop?????
