Default headers and stock mufflers ?

I want more oomph but don't want the noise.
I was thinking of heads , cam and headers but I still want stealth.
I'm not interested in getting the max output but wonder how many HP I'll lose ?

I went with a Blackwing intake, headers and kept the stock cats and mufflers. The car definatley has more power but is quiet inside and doesn't resonate. FYI I tried the high flow cats and X pipe. The car had even more power but resonated betweeen 2500 - 3000 RPM so bad it gave me a headache

Default Was in a car the other day with Zo6 Ti/headers/procharger

It was an LS1 but with Z06 Ti mufflers. Had LT headers and a procharger. WAY fast and WAY stealth! Over 500HP to the wheels so I don't think the stock mufflers are THAT bad!

Go with the heads, cam and headers they won't add too much noise at all. Stock C-5 mufflers are not that bad and flow is pretty decent. Most guys here will tell you that a muffler (catback) swap is mostly a personal thing and not done for performance gains. The cats and the manifold are the bottle neck in the exhaust system, not the mufflers.

I switched to ZO6 Ti mufflers on my 98 coupe. MUCH BETTER sound , ZERO resonance and the tips OH MY GOD,, look very cool!!
The Ti mufflers are 13 lbs each instead of the 26 lbs each for the stock C5 mufflers and the sound level is not that much louder than the stockers until you roamp on it. The Ti's flow a little better so you will benifit there. The ZO6 mufflers are louder on the ZO6 because of the cam and extra compression in the engine.
If you really want to go sleeper, install electric cut-outs and you will have the best of both worlds!!
I believe you would enjoy the Ti mufflers! I got mine for $400 on the C5 parts for sale!

That was me I have Kook 1 7/8 headers,3" race X-pipe(no cats) and a stock Z06 catback..It is very quiet and stealthy.I absolutely love it,car is dead quiet inside just like stock.
The Car went from 320hp to 345hp by the headers/X-pipe.Now the car is 500+ hp with the procharger. So I would say the stock mufflers aren't that much of a restriction

I have the Magnaflow Cat mufflers and there close to stock, just a little V-8 rumble.
