Default Headlight Door Control

Can anyone provide instructions for adjusting headlight control linkage and/or replacing the headlight door controller?

My headlights are stuck in the up position. Well, the left one will close every once in a while, but sticks when returned to the up position. I'm getting a double soft "thunk - thunk" when I flip the headlight switch, but no movement. Both headlight doors will close if the battery is disconnected, but will stick up within a few cycles of up and down.

Any ideas or instructions would be greatly appreciated. BTW, it would be easier for me to replace the controller through the top if it is possible.

Default More info from Chevy dealer

Said the problem was likely one of two things:

1) Motor timing - I think he's talking about mechanical stops

2) The relay that drives the motors. He said he didn't know where the relay was located.

OK, he clearly wasn't a good source, but as a new owner I've not had a chance to network yet.

Thanks, pmcw

Default More info, but still no answers

I tried manually lowering both lights. Of course, this was no problem. Then, after they were both in the down position, I turned on the lights. Only the right side came up. However, once up, it wouldn't go back down unless manually lowered. I also noticed the right light actuator moved slightly every time the light switch was turned on or off, but only about a quarter turn - not enough to move the light.

Any ideas what might be the source of the problem?????

Sounds to me like your head light controller module is going bad!
