Default Need Head & Cam Advice

I have a 2001 C5 with Vararam intake & Kooks headers, Z06 Cats and I have a chance to pickup a set of brand new LS6 Heads for a good price. I am thinking of installing the LS6 heads and an aftermarket cam (nice power but not to aggressive). Do I need to be concerned about finding a cam/pushrods/rockers before I make the investment in the heads or is it not a big deal. Will whoever is supplying the cam be able to match up the pushrods and rockers. Thanks.

Since the LS6 heads are not milled, you can use standard length (7.4")pushrods. Depending on the cam you select, you may or may not wish to invest in hardened pushrods. If you pick an aggressive cam with lift higher than .550", I would recommend them, as well as aftermarket valvesprings. OEM rockers are just fine, unless you are a hard-core racer. Almost any cam will work well with the LS6 heads. They have fairly large ports, and will work well with longer duration cams. The Z06 cam is pretty mild, IMHO, so I would go with something bigger, between 220 & 224 duration. Also depends on whether you need to be able to pass emissions testing, and whether you have access to a good computer tuner. The larger duration cams may have idle, starting, and A/F mix issues.
