After Magnacharger installation, I am continually receiving trouble code C1283 (28-TCS). The message flashing on the DIC is 'Act handling warming up' then 'Service active handling', then 'Service vehicle soon'. Has anyone experienced this problem. I have a list of the trouble codes but C1283 is not in the list.
C1283 is Excessive Time to Center Steering. I would check that the sensor (don't know where it is exactly) was not damaged or disconnected during the installation if the super charger. I know they have to do a bit of work in the area in front of the radiator area, which is very close to the steering linkage.
Thanks for the info. The crank was pinned without removing the steering rack. Does anyone have a manual & knows the position of the steering wheel position sensor on a 98 with active handling. The code was reset & cleared but it returned when I drove the car.
The sensor is on the steering shaft at the base of the steering wheel (in the drivers foot well area) down near the fire wall.
If the steering shaft was disconnected and the wheel was turned the sensor is out of alignment. I know that you said that they didnt disconnect the linkage but you may want to ask them again.
