My parts jobber quoted me $651.00 for 4 new slotted brake rotors and ceramic brake pads for them. Any one have experience with the ceramic pads? I'm not really after improved brake performance. I just like the thought of not having to clean the brake dust off the wheels.
Another vote for sportbrakes.com. Ras is a great guy to deal with.
$250 for rotors and you have your choice of drilling, slotting, dimpling or any combination. Then they are zinc coated, so they won't rust.
Add in a set of Durastop ceramic pads for under $100 from Fred Beans or GMPartsdirect and you've got virtually the same thing, if not better, for about $350-$400 not counting installation.
They hold up longer & very little brake dust. I used them on the 1st brake pad replacement by recommendation. Almost the best invention since wheel....
check out sports brake .com the rotors are awesome and the cost is $249 all 4 rotors.
Just had my dimpled / slotted installed this week with Delco Ceramic Pads. Haven't gotten to try them yet. Waiting on CLB. Column locked when they cranked the car coming off of the lift
IMHO definately give SportBrakes a try. Rotors look awesome installed. Made night and day difference in the appearance of my wheels.
Here is another vote for sport brakes. I got the slotted & dimpled version. The zinc coating at no extra charge is iceing on the cake. The price at fred beans for ceramic pads has been reduced a lot. I paid $145 shipped I think they are down to $80something now. They do produce dust I think mostly because the slots in the rotors are scrapeing them a bit. I thought I read somewhere that they were supposed to do that. They are supposed to vent hot gasses but the newer pads nowadays dont gas much. (lo bean content I guess). These are the best deals ever.
Yeah, I put on GM ceramic pads using my stock rotors. The price I had to pay at the time was about $147 shipped. They still DO dust -- just not as much. For the new price of less than $80, I would do it again -- but not for the $147! I thought I would get less dust from the way everyone talked about ceramic pads.
I order my GM Drilled and Slotted Rotors and Ceramic Pads from Ken Fitchner. $318.00 delivered to my from door. Just put them on today. Looking to trying them out.

Send a little time and do a search in the Autocross and Roadracing section. Look for some threads on brake cooling and look real close at some pictures of drilled rotors.
Most popular and the best rotors are the Raybestos from Rockauto.com or Napa. $100-$120 for all 4 rotors.
Ceramic pads cut down and the brake dust or turn the dust tan, but stopping power?? not really equal to stock pads and no where close to stock Z06 pads.
If you really want performance stopping power for a performance car, IMHO dont use drilled rotors and ceramic pads. But it is your car.
Did you think the pad material would just turn into a gas or otherwise just magically dissapear?
I guess I thought the would be of a non metallic material that might not be attracted to the wheels. What I thought was this was some thing new that I didn't know nearly enough about, so that was the point of making the post. And look how many great responses that resulted from it. What did you offer up with your witty response? A favorite saying that I heard on the Discovery Channel " The more you know, the more you know you don't know." This says to me that a true master of anything functions with great humility.
