Interesting valve spring finding tonight
the old Manley NexTek 221423 springs. Put it on a spring tester.
At 6000 miles the Manley single spring had 115lbs at 1.75 (closed
installed height) and 300lbs at 1.25" (0.50 of lift). At the same points
the stock Z06 Green spring had 75lbs & 210lbs. Again measuring
at the same points the Cranes had 110lbs & 280lbs. The Cranes are
brand new dual springs. The Manley's even after 6000 miles are
dang near if not over their specs when they were new. The Manley
is one tough single spring! Stronger than a new dual spring...wow!
But I am changing them none the less. I am going on a cross country
trip in a few weeks to get the transmission replaced with a stouter
A4 and don't want to be stranded with a broken spring. Hopefully
with duals I will have the ability to go at least 15K miles before
having to replace the springs. BTW I am running the MTI Stealth cam.
Just thought I'd share my observations.
